Marshall |
Male, 1 years old |
Marshall is 1, black spotted, he has a nice nature and is very friendly but has received no training and can be energetic. He is not reactive with other dogs and our assessor has seen him interact with small dogs – although excited he was friendly and happy and showed no aggression. He is well disposed to the kennel staff and not protective of his food or toys, but did show guarding behaviour with a bone (normal). He rips up any soft bedding he is given so currently has a plastic bed with carpet. Marshall does not appear to have had any basic training. He pulls a lot on lead and is very strong. The kennel staff have accustomed him to a halti and he is easier to control on that. He has no recall and jumps on people when he is loose but in a friendly manner – however he could easily knock someone over. When excited he still does puppy mouthing as he has obviously not been taught not to do this. Although Marshall has lived with children in the past we feel he is too excitable and bouncy for a family. He could probably live with an older sensible dog. We think he needs a strong owner who has practical experience of Dalmatians and training a large dog. Marshall is bright and quite receptive and with the right training could make a nice pet – however because of his lack of early training it will need someone with time and patience and with access to a safe area for him to be able to run.
